Srđan Pecelj (born March 12, 1975) is a former professional footballer from Bosnia. He played as a defender, which means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals. He played for many different clubs in several countries during his career.

Srđan Pecelj's Club Journey

Srđan Pecelj started his football journey in the youth teams of Velež Mostar. He then joined their main senior team for the 1991–92 season.

Early Career in Serbia and Spain

After playing for Velež Mostar, Srđan moved to Serbia. He joined Red Star Belgrade, a very famous club. However, he did not get to play much there. The next season, he moved to another club in Belgrade called Železnik.

In 1994, Srđan made a big move to Barcelona in Spain. This was a huge step for any young player! But, because there were so many talented players, he played for Barcelona B. This is the reserve team, where younger players develop their skills. He stayed there for two years.

Returning to Serbia and Playing Abroad

After his time in Spain, Srđan came back to Serbia. He played one season for Čukarički, another club from Belgrade. Then, he returned to Red Star Belgrade and played there for two more seasons until 1999.

That summer, he moved to Greece and played for Paniliakos for two years. In 2001, he played for the Russian club Sokol Saratov. His journey continued to Japan, where he played for Shimizu S-Pulse in the J1 League. He also played in the Austrian Bundesliga for Admira Wacker.

Later Career in Austria and Croatia

In the second half of the 2007–08 season, Srđan played for SK Schwadorf 1936 in Austria. From the summer of 2008, he moved to Croatia. He joined Inter Zaprešić, which is a good team in the Prva HNL League. He played there for two seasons.

After that, he moved to NK Novalja for the 2010–11 season. His last known club was Rudar Trbovlje in Slovenia, where he played until 2012.

International Football for Srđan Pecelj

Srđan Pecelj also represented his country in football.

Playing for Youth Teams

In 1997, he played two matches for the FR Yugoslavia U21 team. The U21 team is for players under 21 years old, helping them get ready for the main national team.

Representing Bosnia and Herzegovina

In 2001, Srđan played five matches for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. All of these games were part of a tournament called the Merdeka Cup. This tournament took place in Malaysia in June 2001.

Srđan Pecelj is not the only footballer in his family. His brother, Miljan, is also a professional football player.
