St. Ignatius is a small town in Lake County, Montana, United States. It is also known by its Salish name, snyél̓mn, and its Ktunaxa name, ʔa·kikqǂaǂaǂuk̓pǂiʔit. In 2020, about 768 people lived there. The town is located within the Flathead Indian Reservation.

History of St. Ignatius
The town of St. Ignatius is named after the St. Ignatius Mission. This mission was started by Father Pierre-Jean De Smet. He was a Belgian Jesuit missionary. Jesuits are a group of Catholic priests. Father De Smet worked in the American Midwest and West for his whole career.
The St. Ignatius Mission is a very important historical site. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is a place that is officially recognized for its historical value. In July 1919, a large forest fire swept through the town. Most of the buildings were destroyed. Only a bank, one store, and a hotel were left standing after the fire.
