Church History: St Andrew's Roundhay
St Andrew's Roundhay was first known as Roundhay Congregational Church. It was designed by an architect named W H Beevers. He used a style called Gothic Revival.
Building the Church
The very first stone for the School Church was laid in November 1901. The church officially started in February 1902 with 29 members. The foundation stone for the main church building was laid in 1907. The church was then opened in 1908.
Becoming a United Reformed Church
In 1972, the church changed its name. It became what we know today as St Andrew's Roundhay United Reformed Church.

The church is built from a type of stone called rock-faced gritstone. It has a red tile roof.
Key Features of the Building
The church has a tall but slim tower with three sections. A Sunday school building is connected to the north side of the church. Inside, the main part of the church, called the nave, has five sections. It features an open timber roof and wooden panels. The window at the east end shows a picture from the parable of the Good Samaritan. This window was made in 1907.
