St Andrew's Church is a very old church located in Rollestone, Wiltshire, England. It is no longer used for regular church services. Instead, a special group called the Churches Conservation Trust takes care of it.

The church was officially no longer needed for services on July 1, 1993. The Trust then took over its care on February 8, 1995. St Andrew's Church is also a "Grade II* listed building". This means it's a very important historical building protected by law.

History of St Andrew's Church

St Andrew's Church was built a very long time ago, in the early 1200s. For many years, it belonged to a group called the Knights Hospitaller. This was a famous order of knights from the Middle Ages.

Some people think that Jane Seymour might have been baptized here. She was one of King Henry VIII's wives. This might have happened around 1508. However, it's possible this story is about a different child with the same name.

What the Church Looks Like

The church is built using flint and stone. These materials are arranged in a cool checkerboard pattern. The church has two main parts: the chancel and the nave. The nave is the main part where people sit. It got a new roof in the 1500s.

The nave is about 32 feet long and 15 feet wide. The chancel, which is the area near the altar, is about 9 feet 8 inches long and 9 feet 6 inches wide. Some parts of the church, like the chancel and the arch leading to it, were rebuilt in 1845.

The church has two large windows in a style called Perpendicular Gothic. The colorful stained glass in these windows is from the 1600s. The font, used for baptisms, is from the 1200s. It has a wooden cover from the 1600s. The wooden benches inside the church came from another old church in Dorset in 1981.

The Church's Location

In the early 1900s, Rollestone became part of the larger church area of Shrewton. This area now also includes St Mary's Church, Maddington.
