St. Mary's Church in Leamington Spa, England, is a beautiful old building. It is a Grade II listed building, which means it's important and protected because of its history and special design. It serves as a local parish church for the community.
History of St. Mary's Church
St. Mary's Church was built a long time ago, between 1838 and 1839. It was designed by an architect named J.G. Jackson.
Over the years, the church has grown and changed.
- In 1897, a house for the church's vicar (a type of priest) was bought on St. Mary's Road. The current vicarage is still on the same street as the church.
- In the 1970s, the church received a large property called "Southlands." They sold this property and bought an old warehouse called The Maltings.
- The Maltings was turned into a special place for young people, called "The Landing Stage." It was used as a youth center for the church.
- Later, The Maltings was sold again and changed into homes.
- The church also built a new church hall, which was finished in 1996. This hall is used for many church activities and community events.
