History
How Old is the Church?
This church is very old. It was built way back in the 13th century. That means it is over 700 years old! Imagine all the history it has seen.
What Happened to the Church?
Sadly, St Mary Magdalene's Church has been closed since 2018. This happened because some material fell from its roof. It needed a lot of repairs to be safe again.
By July 2021, the roof was fixed. The old pipe organ, which was built in 1864, also got restored. It had not been played for 20 years! A special service was held on July 22, 2021. This service celebrated St Mary Magdalene.
However, the church has stayed closed for regular services. More repair work is still needed. Also, new churchwardens and a Parochial Church Council need to be chosen. These groups help manage the church.
