St Mary Magdalene's Church, Walkeringham is a very old and important church building. It is located in the village of Walkeringham, which is in Nottinghamshire, England. This church is special because it is a Grade I listed building. This means it's considered one of the most important historical buildings in the country. It belongs to the Church of England.
A Look Back in Time
This church was first built a long, long time ago, in the 13th century. That's over 700 years ago! Imagine all the history it has seen.
Sadly, the church has been closed since 2018. This happened because some parts of the roof fell down. It needed a lot of repair work to make it safe again.
By July 2021, the roof was fixed. Also, a special musical instrument called a pipe organ was repaired. This organ was built in 1864, but it hadn't been played for 20 years!
Even though some repairs are done, the church is still closed for regular services. More work is needed to fully open it. Also, new churchwardens and a Parochial Church Council need to be chosen. These are people who help manage the church.
