The Church of St Michael is a really old and special church. It stands right next to the River Tone in a village called Creech St Michael in Somerset, England. This church was built a very long time ago, in the 13th century (the 1200s)! Because it's so old and important, it has a special title: a Grade I listed building. This means it's considered one of the most important historic buildings in England. It is protected so it can be enjoyed for many more years.

A Look Back in Time

This church has a long and interesting history. In the year 1362, the Church of St Michael became connected to Montacute Priory. A priory was like a monastery, which was a place where monks lived and worked together. So, for a long time, the church was part of this group of monks.

Music and Organs

Imagine a special place in the church just for musicians! In 1826, a "musicians gallery" was built. This was a raised area where musicians could sit and play instruments during church services. This gallery was used for many years.

Later, in 1985, a new organ was brought into the church. This organ was made by a company called Holdich. Before coming to the Church of St Michael, this very same organ had been used in the Rockwell Green Baptist Church since about 1860. It's amazing to think how long this musical instrument has been played!
