History of St. Peter's Church
The church you see today looks mostly Victorian. This is because it was rebuilt in the 1880s. A rich church leader, called a rector, paid for almost the whole church to be rebuilt. He wanted it to look like a medieval church.
Original Parts and Restorations
The church tower is very old. It was built in the 1200s. This tower was fixed up, or "restored," instead of being completely replaced. Most of the other parts of the church were built in the 1800s. However, some of the old windows were used again in the new building. It is still a beautiful church. Many people choose to have their weddings there.
The Church Today
St. Peter's Church is part of a larger church area. This area is called the Carlton Colville and Mutford benefice. It is also part of the Diocese of Norwich. The church now serves the homes and neighborhoods that have grown up around the old village.
