Stanberry's Story: A Look Back
Stanberry was officially planned out in 1879. This happened when the railroad lines were built to reach that spot. The town was named after J. J. Stanberry. He was the first person to own the land where the town was built. A post office has been open in Stanberry since 1879.
Where is Stanberry?
Stanberry is in the western part of Gentry County. It is located where two main roads, US Route 136 and US Route 169, meet. The city of Albany is about eleven miles to the east. King City is about eleven miles to the south. A stream called Wildcat Creek flows along the south side of the community.
The city covers an area of about 1.40 square miles (3.63 square kilometers). This entire area is land.
