Steamboat Island is a small island located in the southern part of Puget Sound in Washington. It was founded in 1909. Local settlers gave it its name because they thought the island looked like a steamboat floating on the water. Most people living here are of European descent, and many households have two people.
Where is Steamboat Island Located?
Steamboat Island is found at the northern tip of a larger piece of land. This land is known by local people as the "Steamboat Peninsula." Both the island and the peninsula are part of the Thurston County area.
What Services are in the Area?
The island and peninsula are part of the Griffin School District. This means students living here go to schools within this district. The area also gets help from the Griffin Fire Department #13. This fire department helps keep everyone safe.
