Steg was once a small town, or municipality, located in the Raron area of Valais, a canton (like a state) in Switzerland. It was a lovely place nestled in the Swiss Alps.
About Steg
Steg was a municipality, which is a local government area, similar to a town or a small city. It was part of the Raron district, which is a larger administrative region. The canton of Valais, where Steg is located, is known for its beautiful mountains and valleys.
Becoming Steg-Hohtenn
On January 1, 2009, something important happened for Steg. It joined with another nearby municipality called Hohtenn. They merged together to form a brand new, larger municipality. This new place is now known as Steg-Hohtenn. Merging helps small towns share resources and work together more efficiently.
