Steg-Hohtenn is a municipality, which is like a town, located in the Valais canton of Switzerland. It is part of the Raron district. This municipality was formed by combining two smaller villages: Steg and Hohtenn.

Steg-Hohtenn became one municipality on January 1, 2009. Before this date, the villages of Steg and Hohtenn were separate towns. They decided to join together to form a single, larger community.

Steg Village Location
The village of Steg is found at the southern entrance of the Lötschental, also known as the Lötschen valley. The Lonza River forms the western edge of Steg. This river also marks the border between Steg-Hohtenn and the nearby village of Gampel.
Hohtenn Village Location
Hohtenn village is located on a flat area, or terrace, high above the eastern entrance to the Lötschental. It sits about 150 meters (490 feet) higher than the village of Steg. This higher position offers different views of the surrounding area.
