Kippel is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Valais region of Switzerland. It's part of the Raron district. Kippel is known for its beautiful mountain views and traditional Swiss charm.

History of Kippel
Kippel was first mentioned in official records way back in 1437. At that time, it was called Kypil. This shows that people have lived in this area for a very long time!
Geography and Nature
Kippel covers an area of about 11.7 square kilometers (about 4.5 square miles). A big part of this land, about 35%, is covered by forests. Another 23% is used for farming.
The village itself takes up a small part of the land, about 1.7%. The rest of the area includes rivers, lakes, and unproductive land like rocky mountains. Kippel is located in the upper part of the Lötschental valley. It is the biggest village in this valley.
Kippel's Coat of Arms
Every town has a special symbol called a coat of arms. Kippel's coat of arms is red with a silver "X" shape in the middle. On either side of the "X" are two golden stars. This design is unique to Kippel.

Kippel has a population of about 383 people (as of December 2002). Most people in Kippel speak German. In fact, almost everyone, about 99%, speaks German as their main language. A very small number of people speak French.
