Steinauer (pronounced "Steener") is a small village in Pawnee County, Nebraska, United States. In 2020, 59 people lived there.

History of Steinauer
The first people to settle in the area that became Steinauer arrived in the 1850s. Joseph Steinauer and his two brothers, Anton and Nicholas, came from Switzerland in 1852. They had to leave their home country because of a food shortage and economic problems.
The village was officially planned out in 1886. This happened when the railroad was built to reach that spot. The village was named after Joseph A. Steinauer, who was the first postmaster there.
Today, Steinauer has a village office, a park, a bank, and a bar. There are also homes where people live.
