Stephanie Abrams is a well-known American meteorologist. She tells us about the weather on TV! She has worked at The Weather Channel (TWC) since 2003. Learning About Weather: Stephanie Abrams's Education
Stephanie Abrams loved learning about space and weather from a young age. She even went to U.S. Space Camp!
College Studies: University of Florida
Stephanie went to the University of Florida in Gainesville. There, she earned a degree in geography. She also studied mathematics. She did very well in her studies and was chosen for a special honor society called Phi Beta Kappa. She was also the president of her sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon.
Becoming a Meteorologist: Florida State University
After her first degree, Stephanie went to Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee. This is where she studied to become a meteorologist. She learned all about weather! While at FSU, Stephanie practiced giving weather forecasts on a student TV show called FSU Live. She also helped teach a class about meteorology. She really liked how much the professors cared about the students. She also enjoyed that the classes were small, so everyone got to know each other.
Stephanie Abrams's Career in Weather Forecasting
Stephanie Abrams started her career right after college. She has worked for several major news and weather channels.
Early Career: WTXL and The Weather Channel
Stephanie's first job was in Tallahassee, Florida. She was the morning meteorologist for WTXL, a local TV station. In July 2003, she joined The Weather Channel. At first, she was a reporter and filled in for other hosts. By 2005, she became a co-host on the show Weekend View. Later, in 2006, she co-hosted Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast and Weather Center with Mike Bettes.
Working with Al Roker and NBC News
On July 20, 2009, Stephanie started co-hosting Wake Up With Al with Al Roker. This show was on weekday mornings from NBC studios in New York. She also sometimes filled in for Al Roker on the Today show. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Stephanie and Al Roker reported live from Vancouver. The show Wake Up With Al ended in 2015. After that, Stephanie returned to The Weather Channel's studios in Atlanta.
Current Roles: America's Morning Headquarters and Pattrn
In 2012, Stephanie was the temporary weather anchor for Weekend Today. She also co-hosted On The Radar from 2012 to 2013. From 2009 to 2014, she co-hosted Morning Rush (which used to be called Your Weather Today).
Today, Stephanie Abrams is a main co-host of America’s Morning Headquarters. She works alongside Jim Cantore and Jordan Steele. She also co-hosts Pattrn with Jordan Steele.

Stephanie Abrams is part of important groups for weather experts. She is a member of the National Weather Association (NWA). She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). From 2002 to 2003, she was the president of the North Florida chapter of the AMS. She has a special seal of approval from the AMS, which shows she is a highly skilled meteorologist.
