Stephanie Au Hoi-shun, born on May 30, 1992, is a famous swimmer from Hong Kong. She has competed in the Olympic Games four times, representing Hong Kong in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. She also swam in many FINA World Aquatics Championships and FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) events.
Stephanie holds 18 Hong Kong national swimming records. She used to hold 8 other records too! Her current records include the 800-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke, and 100-meter backstroke in long course pools. In short course pools, she holds records for 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle, and 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter backstroke. She also holds all the women's relay records for both long and short course events.
She went to Sacred Heart Canossian College and later studied at the University of California, Berkeley. She graduated in 2014 with a degree in environmental economics and policy. Stephanie also won the 24th Hong Kong Outstanding Students Awards, which is a big honor!
She proudly represented Hong Kong at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Asian Games Medals
Stephanie has won several medals at the Asian Games.
- In 2018, she won a silver medal in the 4×100 meter medley relay in Jakarta.
- She earned bronze medals in 2010 (Guangzhou), 2014 (Incheon), 2018 (Jakarta), and 2022 (Hangzhou) for various freestyle and medley relay events.
East Asian Games Medals
She also achieved success at the East Asian Games.
- In 2009, in Hong Kong, she won two silver medals in the 4×100 meter freestyle and 4×200 meter freestyle relays.
- She also won bronze medals in the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle events in 2009.
- In 2013, in Tianjin, she won a silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke.
- She also took home three bronze medals in 2013 for the 4×100 meter medley, 4×100 meter freestyle, and 4×200 meter freestyle relays.
Summer Universiade Medal
Stephanie won a silver medal at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju. This was for the 50-meter backstroke event.
Representing Hong Kong
Stephanie Au has been a key athlete for Hong Kong. She was even chosen to be the flag bearer for Hong Kong at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. This is a very special role, leading her country's team during the opening ceremony.
