Stephanie Marie McMahon Levesque (born September 24, 1976) is an American businesswoman and former professional wrestler. She is well-known for her many jobs at WWE between 1998 and 2023.

Stephanie is the daughter of Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon. She is part of the McMahon family, who have been involved in wrestling for four generations. She started working for WWE when she was 13, helping to model clothes for catalogs. Stephanie began appearing on TV for WWE (then called WWF) in 1999. This was part of a story with The Undertaker.

Later, she had an on-screen relationship with Test. Then, she got engaged to Triple H, whom she married both on TV and in real life. This led to the "McMahon-Helmsley" storyline. She won the WWF Women's Championship once. In 2001, she was the TV owner of Extreme Championship Wrestling during a big storyline called "The Invasion." The next year, she was the general manager of SmackDown. She stopped appearing regularly on TV after a match with her father.

After a few years of only showing up sometimes, Stephanie returned to Raw in 2008 as the general manager. She then took another break. In 2013, she came back regularly, playing a bossy and judgmental character with Triple H. They became a powerful duo called The Authority. They made many decisions that they said were "best for business." Stephanie wrestled her last match at WrestleMania 34 in April 2018. After that, she focused on her important roles behind the scenes at the company.

Stephanie's business career started as an account executive for WWF. She later became the company's head writer. In 2006, she was promoted to senior vice president of creative writing. A year later, she became the executive vice president of creative. From 2013 to 2022, Stephanie was the chief brand officer for WWE. She left WWE in January 2023 after her father returned to the company.

Early Life and Education

Stephanie Marie McMahon was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 24, 1976. Her parents, Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon, were professional wrestling promoters. She has an older brother named Shane McMahon. The McMahon family is Irish American, and Stephanie is proud of her Irish background.

Soon after she was born, her family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. She went to Greenwich Country Day School for her elementary years. At 13, she started working for World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as a model for their merchandise catalogs. After finishing Greenwich High School in 1994, Stephanie went to Boston University. She graduated in 1998 with a degree in communications. After college, she became a full-time employee at the WWF.

Business Career at WWE

Starting Out in the Company

Stephanie McMahon began her business career at the World Wrestling Federation (WWF/E) as a model. She then became an account executive in the New York offices. In her early years, she did many jobs. These included reception work, creative design, and TV production. In November 2000, Stephanie became the head writer for the company. She was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Creative Writing in 2006.

Leading Creative Teams

In 2007, Stephanie was promoted to Executive Vice President of Creative. In this role, she was in charge of all the storylines for WWE's TV shows and special events. She also oversaw talent management, live event planning, and all social and digital media.

As executive vice president, Stephanie helped launch the WWE app, which has been downloaded millions of times. She also started big partnerships with the USO and Yahoo for WWE content. Stephanie also led WWE's efforts in their anti-bullying campaigns.

Professional Wrestling Career

The McMahon-Helmsley Era (1999–2001)

In early 1999, Stephanie debuted on TV as the innocent daughter of Vince McMahon. This was part of a storyline with The Undertaker. The Undertaker tried to marry her in the ring, but Stone Cold Steve Austin saved her.

Stephanie then started a TV relationship with wrestler Test. They even got engaged. But in late 1999, Triple H tricked Stephanie into marrying him. This led to them becoming the on-screen owners of the WWF. This time was known as the "McMahon-Helmsley Era." Triple H held the WWF Championship. Stephanie won the WWF Women's Championship in March 2000. She defended her title several times.

In mid-2000, a love triangle story began with Stephanie, Triple H, and Kurt Angle. Stephanie later became Angle's manager. However, she lost her Women's Championship to Lita in August 2000.

Family problems on TV led to Linda McMahon being in a coma. Vince McMahon then had a public affair with Trish Stratus. Stephanie briefly fought with Stratus. At WrestleMania X-Seven, Shane McMahon defeated Vince in a street fight.

The Invasion and TV Divorce (2001–2002)

Stephanie later said she had bought Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). She wanted to team up with her brother Shane, who owned World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Their two groups joined to form "The Alliance."

At Survivor Series, The Alliance lost to Team WWF. After the loss, Shane and Stephanie were removed from TV. Stephanie returned in January 2002 when Triple H came back. But their TV marriage started to have problems. Stephanie acted like a nagging wife.

As part of the story, they "divorced" after Stephanie lied about being pregnant. Triple H found out she was lying and left her. Stephanie then teamed up with Chris Jericho. She was pinned by Triple H in a match, which meant she had to leave the WWF on TV.

SmackDown General Manager (2002–2003)

In June 2014, Stephanie threatened to fire Daniel Bryan's wife, Brie Bella, if Bryan did not give up his championship. Brie quit and slapped Stephanie. Stephanie was then "arrested" on TV for slapping Brie. To get Brie to drop the lawsuit, Stephanie gave Brie her job back and a match at SummerSlam.
