Steven Dwayne Burtt (born November 5, 1962) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a point guard, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall. Steve Burtt played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) at different times between 1984 and 1993. He also had a successful career playing basketball in other countries.
Born in New York City, Steve Burtt played high school basketball at Charles Evans Hughes High School. After high school, he went to Iona to play for the Gaels college team. Today, Steve Burtt teaches at Bronx Collegiate Academy in Bronx, New York.

College Basketball Career
During his four years playing for Iona, Steve Burtt played in 121 games. He scored an average of 20.9 points per game. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.
Steve Burtt holds the record for the most points ever scored for Iona, with a total of 2,534 points. He also set several other school records. These include the most field goals made and attempted in his career. He also set the record for most field goals made in a single season.
His single-season scoring record of 732 points was later broken in 2006 by his son, Steve Burtt Jr.. During his time in college, Steve Burtt was named to the All-MAAC first team three times (1982–1984). He was also named All-MAAC Player of the Year twice (1983–1984).
Steve Burtt and his son are one of only two father-son pairs to each score over 2,000 points in NCAA Division I basketball. The other famous father-son duo is Dell Curry and Steph Curry.
Professional Basketball Journey
Steve Burtt was chosen as the 30th player overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. In his first season, injuries meant he only played in 47 games. He averaged 4.2 points per game during that time.
After his time in the NBA, Steve Burtt played professionally in many countries. He played in Greece in 1992. Later, he had a very successful career in Italy in the Serie A league. He often changed teams each year in Italy.
Over six years in Italy, he played in 155 games. He averaged 28.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. In 2007, the team Maccabi Rishon LeZion B.C. honored Steve Burtt. They named him the "Best Foreigner Player" of the past 20 years.
