Steve Hofmeyr, born on 29 August 1964, is a well-known South African musician, writer, and actor. He is famous for his music, especially in the Afrikaans language. Many people also know him from his long-running role as Doug Durand in the TV show Egoli: Place of Gold.

Early Life and Education
Steve Hofmeyr was born in Pretoria, South Africa. He is the oldest of five brothers. His parents are Stephanus Johannes Hofmeyr and Catharina Olivier.
He went to primary school in Pretoria and Hennenman. Later, he attended Grey College in Bloemfontein. After finishing school, he completed two years of military service. He then studied drama at the Technikon Pretoria. However, he left in 1986 to focus on his acting career.
Personal Life
Steve Hofmeyr identifies as a Christian. He has six children. He married actress Natasha Sutherland in 1998, and they had two sons, Benjamin and Sebastian. They later divorced in 2008. In 2014, he married Janine van der Vyver. They have a daughter named Romy Lee, who was born in 2017.
