Steve Dennis Timmons, born on November 29, 1958, is a famous American former volleyball player. He played for the United States national team in three Olympic Games. Steve won two gold medals in 1984 and 1988, and a bronze medal in 1992. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 1984 Olympics. Steve was known for being one of the first players to hit the ball powerfully from the back of the court.
Steve Timmons played alongside another great player, Karch Kiraly. Together, they won gold medals at the 1985 FIVB World Cup, the 1986 FIVB World Championship, and the 1987 Pan American Games. In 1998, Steve Timmons was honored by being added to the International Volleyball Hall of Fame.

Early Life and School
Steve Timmons grew up in Newport Beach, California. He went to Newport Harbor High School. There, he played both volleyball and basketball. He started playing volleyball when he was in his junior year of high school.
College Sports
After high school, Steve first attended Orange Coast College (OCC). He played basketball for the Pirates team, which won a state championship. He also played volleyball for the Pirates, and they were runners-up in the state championship.
Later, Steve went to the University of Southern California. He played for the Trojans volleyball team. In 1980, his team won the NCAA men's volleyball tournament. Steve was chosen for the All-Tournament Team that year. He was also named an All-American player in both 1980 and 1981.
Professional Volleyball Career
Steve Timmons played professional volleyball in Italy. He joined the Italian league team Porto Ravenna Volley, which was known as "il Messaggero" at the time. He played there with his former teammate, Karch Kiraly.
Together, they helped their team win the Italian Volleyball League title in 1991. They also won the CEV Champions League title in 1992.
Beach Volleyball
After playing indoor volleyball, Steve Timmons also played professional beach volleyball. He played from 1989 to 1994. In 1989, he won a tournament in Enoshima, Japan, with Karch Kiraly as his partner.
Life After Sports
After his volleyball career, Steve Timmons became a businessman. He helped start a company called Redsand. This company made clothing and products for action sports. He was the president of Redsand for a while. In 2003, he sold the company to Perry Ellis.
Steve Timmons was married to basketball executive Jeanie Buss from 1990 to 1993. From 1997 to 2018, he was married to actress Debbe Dunning. They have three children together.
