Steve Dennis Timmons (born in 1958) is a famous American former volleyball player. He played for the U.S. national team in three Summer Olympics. He won two gold medals in 1984 and 1988, and a bronze medal in 1992.
Steve was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 1984 Olympics. He was also known for being one of the first players to hit the ball powerfully from the back row of the court. He played alongside another volleyball legend, Karch Kiraly, on the national team. Together, they won gold medals at the 1985 FIVB World Cup, the 1986 FIVB World Championship, and the 1987 Pan American Games.
In 1998, Steve Timmons was honored by being added to the International Volleyball Hall of Fame.

Early Life and High School Volleyball
Steve Timmons grew up in Newport Beach, California. He went to Newport Harbor High School. There, he played both volleyball and basketball. He started playing volleyball when he was a junior in high school.
College Volleyball Career
After high school, Steve went to Orange Coast College (OCC). He played for the Pirates basketball team, which won a state championship. He also played for the Pirates volleyball team, which finished second in the state.
Later, Steve attended the University of Southern California (USC). He played for the USC Trojans volleyball team. In 1980, his team won the 1980 NCAA men's volleyball tournament. Steve was chosen for the All-Tournament Team that year. He was also named an All-American player in both 1980 and 1981.
Playing in the Italian Volleyball League
Steve Timmons also played professional volleyball in Italy. He joined the Italian team Porto Ravenna Volley. His teammate there was also Karch Kiraly. They helped their team win the Italian Volleyball League title in 1991. The team also won the CEV Champions League title in 1992.
Beach Volleyball Career
From 1989 to 1994, Steve Timmons played professional beach volleyball. In 1989, he won a tournament in Enoshima, Japan. His partner for that win was Karch Kiraly.
Life Outside of Volleyball
After his sports career, Steve Timmons helped start a company called Redsand. This company made clothing and gear for action sports. He was the president of Redsand before selling it in 2003.
