Steven Daniel Langton (born April 15, 1983) is an American bobsledder. He is famous for winning silver medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics in both the two-man and four-man bobsled races. He also won gold medals in both events at the 2012 FIBT World Championships.

Early Life and College Sports

Steven Langton grew up in the United States. He went to Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2006 with a degree in Business Management.

While at Northeastern, Steven was a star athlete on the track and field team. He was the team captain for two years. He was very fast, running the 55-meter dash in 6.49 seconds. He also ran the 100-meter dash in 10.58 seconds. He was also good at the long jump, leaping 7.04 meters. After watching the 2006 Winter Olympics, he was inspired to try bobsledding.

Olympic Bobsledding Career

Steven Langton competed in two Olympic Games. His first Olympics were the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. He raced in both the two-man and four-man bobsled events. His pilot (the driver of the bobsled) was John Napier. In the two-man race, they finished in tenth place. Unfortunately, his team had a crash in the four-man event. Because of injuries, they could not finish the competition.

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Steven had amazing success. He teamed up with pilot Steven Holcomb. They won a silver medal in the two-man bobsled event. This was a huge achievement! It was the first time in 62 years that an American team won an Olympic medal in the two-man bobsled.

After that, Steven Langton, Steven Holcomb, Curt Tomasevicz, and Christopher Fogt raced in the four-man event. They also won a silver medal. This made them the first American team in 62 years to win medals in both the two-man and four-man events at the same Olympics.

World Championships and World Cup Success

Steven Langton has also achieved a lot outside of the Olympics. He has won four medals at the World Championships. In 2011 and 2013, he won bronze medals in the four-man event.

His biggest success came at the 2012 World Championships. He won gold medals in both the two-man and four-man events. This was a historic win! It was the first time an American team won gold in the two-man event at a World Championships. It was also the first time an American team won both events at a single World Championships.

Steven has also won many medals in the World Cup series. He has earned 21 World Cup medals in total. These include 11 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals. In the 2010–11 season, he also won the first-ever World Push Championships in Italy.

Steven's Family

Steven Langton comes from a family of athletes. His brother, Christopher Langton, was a great lacrosse player at Cornell University. Christopher was also an alternate for the U.S. bobsled team at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Steven's other brother, Sean Langton, works as a dentist.
