Steven Daniel Langton, born on April 15, 1983, is an American bobsledder. He is famous for winning silver medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics in both the two-man and four-man bobsled races. He also won gold medals at the 2012 World Championships in both events.

Steven Langton's Early Life

Steven Langton went to Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2006 with a degree in Business Management. While at Northeastern, he was a key member of the track and field team. He was even the team captain for two years. Steven decided to try bobsledding after watching the 2006 Winter Olympics.

2010 Winter Olympics

At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Steven Langton competed in two bobsled events. He raced in both the two-man and four-man events. His pilot for these races was John Napier. In the two-man event, Steven and his team finished in tenth place. Unfortunately, his team had a crash in the four-man event. Because of injuries, they could not compete on the second day of the race.

2014 Winter Olympics

Steven Langton returned to the Olympics for the 2014 Games. This time, he teamed up with pilot Steven Holcomb. They competed in both the two-man and four-man bobsled events.

In the two-man event at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, Steven won a bronze medal. This medal was later changed to a silver medal. This was a very special win because it was the first time in 62 years that an American bobsled team won an Olympic medal in the two-man event.

After this, Steven joined Steven Holcomb, Curt Tomasevicz, and Christopher Fogt for the four-man event. They also won a bronze medal, which was later upgraded to silver. With these two medals, they made history. They were the first American team in 62 years to win Olympic medals in both the two-man and four-man events at the same Olympics.

World Championships and World Cups

Steven Langton has also had great success outside of the Olympic Games. He has won four medals at the World Championships. He earned bronze medals in the four-man event in 2011 and 2013. In 2012, he won gold medals in both the two-man and four-man events. The 2012 victory was very important. It was the first time an American team won gold in the two-man event at a World Championships. It was also the first time an American team won both events at the same World Championships.

Steven has also won many medals in the World Cup series. He has earned 21 World Cup medals in total. These include 11 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals. In the 2010–11 season, Steven also won the first-ever World Push Championships. This competition was held in Cesana Pariol, Italy.

Steven Langton's Family

Steven Langton comes from a family of athletes. His brother, Christopher Langton, was a great lacrosse player at Cornell University. Christopher also served as an alternate for Team USA at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games. Steven has another brother named Sean Langton, who works as a dentist.
