Kirk Jones (born November 3, 1973), known as Sticky Fingaz, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. He is famous for being a member of the successful rap group Onyx.
Sticky Fingaz was discovered by Jam Master Jay from Run-D.M.C.. Jay signed Onyx to his label, JMJ Records, on the condition that Sticky would join the group. His unique voice and high energy helped the group get noticed. He quickly became the main performer for Onyx.
Onyx released three popular albums before Sticky Fingaz started his own music career.
Sticky Fingaz has acted in over 80 films and TV shows. In 1993, he first appeared in the HBO drama Strapped. He also acted in movies like Spike Lee's Clockers and Next Friday, where he played "Tyrone." On TV, he was in New York Undercover and Nash Bridges. He is best known for playing Blade in the TV series Blade. In 2022, he had a role in the TV show Flatbush Misdemeanors.
Sticky Fingaz has also written, produced, directed, and starred in two movies. These films, A Day in the Life and Caught On Tape, are called "hip hoperas." This means they tell a story through hip-hop music, like a musical. His company, Major Independents, released them. In 2019, he released It's About T.I.M.E., which he calls a "Digital Album Movie."

Early Life and Beginnings
Kirk Jones was born in Kings County Hospital Center on November 3, 1973. He grew up in the Flatbush, Brooklyn area. When he was a child, he dreamed of becoming a DJ.
Jones shared that his nickname "Sticky Fingaz" came from his youth. It means someone who has a tendency to take things.
When he was 16, Jones moved to South Jamaica, Queens. He went to live with his cousin, Fredro Starr, who worked as a barber.
Music Career
Joining Onyx
Fredro Starr, Big DS, and Suave (also known as Sonny Seeza) met Jam Master Jay in 1991. Jay asked them to create a music demo. Suave and Big DS could not make it to the studio. So, Fredro brought his cousin, Kirk Jones, who was working on his own music as "Trop." Fredro and Sticky Fingaz recorded two songs together.
In 1993, Onyx released their first album, Bacdafucup. It was very successful and sold millions of copies. The popular song "Slam" helped make it a hit. Onyx then released two more albums with JMJ Records: All We Got Iz Us and Shut 'Em Down.
Solo Music Projects
In 2001, Jones released his first solo album, Black Trash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones. This album told a fictional story of Kirk Jones's life. It was like a "hip-hop opera," starting with his release from prison and ending with his death. Critics praised the album for being creative and meaningful. It featured famous artists like Eminem and Redman.
His second album, Decade "...but wait it gets worse", came out in 2003. It included performances by Fredro Starr and Omar Epps.
In 2019, Sticky Fingaz released his third album, It's About T.I.M.E.. This album was released as a "digital album movie." It came with a musical film that showed the story of Sticky Fingaz's life. The film covered everything from his birth to joining Onyx. This album is only available on Sticky's own website.
Acting Career Highlights
Jones was a regular actor on the TV series Platinum. He played Grady Rhames. He also played Pvt. Maurice "Smoke" Williams in the TV show Over There. This show was about American soldiers in Iraq. He was also Tyrone in the movie Next Friday.
Jones had a recurring role as Kern Little in the TV series The Shield. He also appeared in the movie House of the Dead 2.
From 2006, Jones played Blade in Blade: The Series. This show continued the Blade film series. The series aired on Spike TV.
Jones also worked on a movie called Karma, Confessions and Holi. He played Rich Smooth in that film. He was a main character in the remake of the movie Flight of the Phoenix. In the video game Def Jam: Fight for NY, he provided his own voice. He also appeared in the game's sequel, Def Jam: Icon.
Sticky Fingaz wrote, co-produced, co-directed, and starred in the movie A Day in the Life.
In 2019, Fingaz released the movie It's About T.I.M.E. through his company, Major Independents. He wrote, directed, filmed, produced, and acted in this movie. It was released in a special "Digital Album Movie" format.
Jones had a recurring role in the second season of Showtime's Flatbush Misdemeanors. He played Anthony, the brother of Drew, a character played by Hassan Johnson. Jones and Johnson had worked together before on Clockers.

- Also in 1994, their album Bacdafucup won Best Rap Album at the 1994 Soul Train Music Awards.
- In 2020, Sticky Fingaz received two awards from the ASCAP Pop Music Awards. These were for his writing contribution to Travis Scott's song "Sicko Mode." The song was recognized as one of the most performed and top streamed songs of 2019.
