Stiles is a town located in Oconto County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In the year 2000, about 1,465 people lived there. Two smaller communities, also named Stiles and Stiles Junction, are part of the town.
This area was originally the land of the Menominee people. They gave up this land to the United States in 1836 through a deal called the Treaty of the Cedars. The Menominee name for this place is Pæhkuahkiw, which means "pointed hillock."
The town of Stiles started a post office in 1855. It closed for a short time in 1882 but then reopened later that same year. This new post office stayed open until 1976. The land for the town was first mapped out in 1839, and the town officially began in 1852. It was originally planned to be called Eldred.
