Stillwell Saunooke was an amazing American football player. He played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) way back in the 1922 season. He was a member of a special team called the Oorang Indians. Stillwell was also a proud member of the Cherokee people.

Stillwell Saunooke was born on September 1, 1891, in Whittier, North Carolina. He grew up to be a talented athlete. He played a position called "End" or "Wingback" in football. Playing for the Oorang Indians

In 1922, Stillwell Saunooke joined the Oorang Indians team. This team was very unique. It was based in LaRue, Ohio, and all of its players were Native Americans. The team was coached by the famous athlete Jim Thorpe. Playing for the Oorang Indians was a special experience for Stillwell.
