Stock Island is a special kind of community in Monroe County, Florida, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area that the government counts for population but isn't officially a city or town. It's located on an island that shares the same name.
In 2020, about 4,722 people lived here. This was more than the 3,919 people who lived there in 2010. Stock Island is found on the southern part of the island, just off US 1. People think it got its name because animals like cows (livestock) used to be kept there. However, some local historians believe it might be named after an early person who settled there.
