Stockport is a small town in South Australia. It is about 73 kilometers north of Adelaide and 15 kilometers south of Tarlee. The town was started in 1845 by Samuel Stocks junior. He named it after his hometown, Stockport in England.

Stockport was once a busy farming area. It was also a stop on the Peterborough railway line, which opened in 1869. This railway connected Stockport to Adelaide. The train line stopped running in the 2000s. Today, Stockport has a mix of old stone houses and newer homes. In 2006, about 234 people lived there.

Charles Todd Observatory

The Charles Todd Observatory is located in Stockport. It has a large dome that is 7.5 meters wide. The observatory was built around 1970. The Astronomical Society of South Australia runs it. It closed for a while after a storm in 2010 but reopened in 2016. Here, you can learn about stars and planets.

Glenhaven Park Camp

Glenhaven Park Camp is an exciting adventure park near Stockport. It is run by the YMCA. The camp is a great place for outdoor activities and fun.

The Railway Line

The Roseworthy-Peterborough railway line goes through Stockport. Even though the trains no longer stop here, the old railway line is still a part of the town's history.
