Stony River is a small community in Alaska, United States. It is known as Gidighuyghatno’ Xidochagg Qay’ in the Deg Xinag language and K'qizaghetnu Hdakaq’ in Dena'ina. It is a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the government for counting people.
Stony River is located in the Bethel Census Area. In 2020, about 57 people lived there. The number of people living in Stony River has changed a bit over the years.
Most people living in Stony River have mixed Athabaskan and Yup'ik backgrounds. These are groups of Alaska Native people. Stony River is a place where Yup'ik Eskimo people and three different Athabaskan groups meet. These groups are the Deg Hit'an, Dena'ina, and Upper Kuskokwim peoples. Many people in Stony River speak more than one language. They might speak Yup'ik and different Athabaskan languages.

Where is Stony River Located?
Stony River is found on an island in the Kuskokwim River. It is right where the smaller Stony River flows into the Kuskokwim River. This location is about 140 miles (225 km) northeast of Bethel.
