The Stratosphere Las Vegas is a super tall building in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a hotel, a casino, and a famous observation tower. You can find it just north of the Las Vegas Strip.

The main part of the Stratosphere is its amazing tower. It stands 1,149 ft (350.2 m) tall! This makes it the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. It is also the second-tallest in the Western Hemisphere. Only the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario, is taller.

The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest building in Las Vegas. It is also the tallest structure in the entire state of Nevada. It is even the tallest tower west of the Mississippi River!

What is the Stratosphere?

The Stratosphere Las Vegas is a huge building complex. It has a hotel with thousands of rooms. There is also a large casino for adults. But the most exciting part for many is the tall observation tower.

History of the Tower

The idea for the Stratosphere came from a man named Bob Stupak. He wanted to build something truly unique in Las Vegas. Construction on the tower began in February 1992. It took several years to build this giant structure.

The Stratosphere officially opened its doors on April 30, 1996. It cost about $70 million to build. Since then, it has been a major landmark in Las Vegas.

Exciting Rides at the Top

One of the coolest things about the Stratosphere Tower is the rides! These rides are located way up high, at the very top of the tower. They offer thrilling experiences and amazing views of Las Vegas.

Big Shot

The Big Shot ride shoots you straight up into the air. You go from the top of the tower even higher! It's like a giant slingshot that launches you upwards.

Insanity

Insanity is another wild ride. It spins you around while hanging you over the edge of the tower. You'll be looking down at the city from a very high point!

X-Scream

The X-Scream ride tilts you over the edge of the tower. You feel like you are about to fall off! It's a short but very intense ride.

SkyJump Las Vegas

If you are really brave, you can try SkyJump Las Vegas. This is a controlled freefall experience. You jump from the tower and slowly drop down. It's an incredible adventure!

Dining and Entertainment

The Stratosphere also has many places to eat. There are restaurants for different tastes. Some offer amazing views from high up in the tower.

Top of the World Restaurant

The Top of the World restaurant is very special. It slowly spins around. This means you get a full 360-degree view of Las Vegas while you eat! It's a great way to see the city lights at night.

Other Places to Eat

You can also find other restaurants like Fellini's Ristorante. Roxy's Diner is a fun, classic American diner. Lucky's is another popular spot for food.
