Early TV and Film Roles
Stuart Laing began his acting career on television in 1993. He appeared in well-known shows like Casualty, The Bill, and Minder.
In 1994, Stuart played a main character in a two-part BBC drama called Blood and Peaches. That same year, he was in his first full-length movie, 3 Steps to Heaven, for Channel 4. In 1995, he played the Italian boyfriend of Lena Headey's character in the film Devil's Advocate.
Also in 1995, Stuart had a main role in the TV drama Strike Force. This show was about pilots who flew RAF Tornado jets. In 1996, he played another pilot in the World War II movie Gaston's War, acting alongside Olivia Williams.

In the late 1990s, Stuart Laing appeared in two 10-episode TV series. He played Jack Wickham in Berkeley Square and Robert in the BBC drama In a Land of Plenty.

From 2006 to 2007, Stuart Laing became a regular actor on the BBC show EastEnders. He appeared in over 86 episodes as Rob Minter, who was involved in a complicated relationship story.

Theatre Performances
Stuart Laing made his first professional stage appearance in 1993 in a play called Loot at the Thorndike Theatre. After that, he performed in Salt Lake Psycho and Bad Company at the Bush Theatre. He then acted in two plays at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre: Over Hear and Kiss of the Spiderwoman, where he played the character Molina.
In 1998, Stuart performed in six short plays at the Soho Theatre called Food for Thought. He has returned to the Soho Theatre for several plays, including Hundreds and Thousands in 2011.
In 1999, he acted alongside Andrew Lincoln in Hushabye Mountain at Hampstead Theatre. Other theatre roles include Indian Country at Chapter Arts Centre, Streetcar Named Desire at Theatr Clwyd, Seasons Greetings at Liverpool Playhouse, and Drowning on Dry Land at Salisbury Playhouse.
In London's West End, Stuart performed in Blowing Whistles at the Leicester Square Theatre in 2008. This was followed by a tour of three new plays by Neil LaBute across the UK.
In 2014, Stuart played the main role of Macbeth in the play Macbeth at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester.
In 2015, Stuart toured the UK in the Royal National Theatre's award-winning play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (play). He played the role of Ed Boone. He performed this role again for five months at the Piccadilly Theatre in 2019, after also performing the play in China and Australia.
Also in 2019, Stuart performed in another production of Macbeth at Chichester Festival Theatre. This time, he played Banquo, while John Simm played Macbeth.
