How Stuffed Puffs Started
The Big Idea
The idea for Stuffed Puffs came from Michael Tierney. He was from Long Island, New York. In 2008, he was sitting by a campfire with friends. They were making s'mores.
Michael noticed that the chocolate in a s'more often stayed cold. It didn't get all gooey and melted like in commercials. He wanted to fix this problem.
The Invention
To solve the cold chocolate problem, Michael tried something new. He ripped a marshmallow in half. Then, he put a piece of chocolate inside it. He held this new marshmallow over the fire.
This simple idea worked perfectly! The chocolate melted from the inside out. It became warm and gooey, just like he wanted. This was the moment the Stuffed Puffs idea was born.
Making the Company
Michael Tierney officially started the Stuffed Puffs company in 2012. To get money for his new marshmallow brand, he first created a brand called Mikey's. Mikey's sold gluten free foods.
Later, in 2018, Stuffed Puffs teamed up with a company called Factory, LLC. This partnership helped Stuffed Puffs start making their marshmallows in a factory. The factory was in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Selling in Stores
In 2019, Stuffed Puffs began selling their chocolate-filled marshmallows in Walmart stores. This meant many more people could buy and try them.
In the summer of 2021, Stuffed Puffs launched their first national TV ad campaign. It was called "Fluffing Delicious." The ads even featured the famous DJ Marshmello!
Different Flavors of Stuffed Puffs
Stuffed Puffs offers several tasty flavors of their filled marshmallows. They come in 8.6 ounce resealable bags. Sometimes, stores like Costco sell them in bigger 3-pack boxes.

- Classic Milk Chocolate: This is the original flavor, filled with creamy milk chocolate.
- Chocolate-on-Chocolate: For those who love extra chocolate, this one has a double chocolate filling.
- Cookies 'n Creme: This flavor is filled with a delicious cookies and cream center.
Limited Edition Flavors
Stuffed Puffs also releases special flavors for holidays!
- For Christmas in 2020, they sold a limited edition flavor. It was called Chocolate Peppermint Bark.
- For Easter in 2021, they offered classic flavor marshmallows. These were made in fun pastel colors.
- For Halloween in 2022, Stuffed Puffs launched a flavor called Monster Marsh. These were green marshmallows filled with chocolate and covered in sprinkles.
