Subhash Dutta (born February 9, 1930 – died November 16, 2012) was a famous person from Bangladesh. He was a talented filmmaker, an actor in movies and plays, and also a designer. He started his career by creating art for businesses.

His Journey in Film
Subhash Dutta began his career as an artist who designed posters for movies. He drew posters for Mukh O Mukhosh (1956). This was a very important movie because it was the first Bengali-language film ever made in what was then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
Later, Subhash Dutta started directing his own movies. His first film as a director was Sutorang, which came out in 1964. This movie was quite successful and even won an award at a film festival in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1965. In 1972, he also showed his acting skills by performing with a theater group called Aranyak Nattyadal.
Awards and Recognition
Subhash Dutta received many important awards for his work in films and arts. Some of his notable awards include:
- Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director (1976)
- Ekushey Padak (1999) – This is one of the highest civilian awards in Bangladesh.
- Nigar Award (1962)
His movie Abirbhab also won a special award at the Frankfurt Film Festival. Other movies he directed were honored at film festivals in places like Phnom Penh (1968) and Moscow (1967, 1973, 1979). He also received an award for his acting at the Pakistan Film Festival in 1965.
Family Life
Subhash Dutta had a family with two sons, named Shivaji and Ranaji, and two daughters, named Shilpi and Shotabdi.
He passed away on November 16, 2012, at his home in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He died due to heart disease.
