The Surselva District was an important area in Switzerland. It was located in the canton (like a state or region) called the Grisons.
This district existed from the year 2000 until 2016. It was a place where local government decisions were made. The Surselva District covered a large area of about 1,373 square kilometers. In 2015, about 21,325 people lived there.
The district was created in 2000. It was formed by joining two older districts, called Vorderrhein and Glenner. On January 1, 2017, the Surselva District was replaced. It became part of a new area called the Surselva Region. This change was part of a bigger plan to reorganize the canton.
