Surveen Chawla (born August 1, 1984) is an Indian actress and dancer. She is known for her work in Hindi and Punjabi movies and television shows. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in Punjabi cinema.

Chawla began her acting career with popular TV shows like Kahin To Hoga and Kaajjal. She has also starred in many movies and series. Some of her famous works include Hate Story 2 (2014), Ugly (2013), and 24 (2016). In 2018, she appeared in the Hindi web series Haq Se.

Career

Starting on Television

Surveen Chawla first appeared on television in 2003 in a reality show called Coke [V] Popstars. She made her acting debut in the TV serial Kahin To Hoga as the character Charu. In 2004, she was also in the show Kasautii Zindagi Kay.

From 2006 to 2007, she played the main character in the TV serial Kaajjal. She also appeared on the dance reality show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2008. There, she was partnered with Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth. Later, she hosted the TV show Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars.

Movie Career

Chawla's first movie was a Kannada film called Paramesha Panwala. In 2011, she starred in the Punjabi film Dharti. After that, she acted in many other Punjabi movies, including Taur Mittran Di, Saadi Love Story, Singh vs Kaur, and Disco Singh.

She also made special appearances in songs, like "Dhoka Dhoka" in the movie Himmatwala. In 2013, she acted in the Tamil film Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal and the thriller movie Ugly.

Success in Film

In 2014, Chawla starred in the thriller Hate Story 2. In the movie, she played Sonika Prasad, a woman who stands up against people who have wronged her. The film was a success and was her first movie where she played the main character.

That same year, she appeared in the hit Punjabi song 'Mitran De Boot' with singer Jazzy B. She was also in the song "Sawan Aaya Hai" from the movie Creature 3D. Her other films from this time include the Tamil movie Jaihind 2 and the Punjabi film Hero Naam Yaad Rakhi. In 2015, she played the role of Bijli in the film Parched.

In 2016, Surveen was a contestant on the dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Recent Work

In 2018, Chawla starred in her first web series, Haq Se. The show is set in Kashmir and tells the story of the four Mirza sisters. Surveen played Mehr Mirza, the oldest sister. She has since appeared in other popular web series like Sacred Games and Decoupled.

Personal life

Surveen Chawla married Akshay Thakker in 2015 in Italy. She shared the news of her wedding on Twitter in December 2017, two years after it happened.
