Suzanne Packer, born Suzanne Jackson on November 26, 1962, is a talented actress from Wales. She is most famous for her role as Tess Bateman in the BBC medical show Casualty. She played this character for over 11 years, from 2003 to 2015. Suzanne also came back for special anniversary episodes of Casualty. After leaving Casualty, she has appeared in other TV shows. These include Bang, In My Skin, and The Pembrokeshire Murders.

Suzanne's Early Life and Education
Suzanne Packer grew up in Wales. Her parents moved there from Jamaica and Panama. Her mother worked as a nurse. Suzanne is the older sister of the famous hurdler, Colin Jackson.
While she was a student at Llanedeyrn High School in Cardiff, Suzanne loved acting. She played the main characters in school plays. Some of these plays were Oklahoma and The King and I. After high school, Suzanne joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales. She then went to the University of Warwick. There, she earned a degree in theatre and drama. Later, she trained to be an actress at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Before becoming a full-time actress, Suzanne worked as a supply drama teacher. She turned down a permanent teaching job to follow her dream of acting.
Suzanne's Acting Career
In 1991, Suzanne Packer helped start a group called BiBi Crew. This was Britain's first comedy theatre group made only of Black women.
Becoming Tess Bateman in Casualty
Suzanne got an audition for the BBC drama Casualty. She won the part of Tess Bateman. She first appeared on the show in September 2003. Suzanne played Tess for more than 11 years. On August 22, 2015, she announced she would be leaving Casualty. She later returned for the show's 30th-anniversary episodes.
Other TV Roles
Suzanne has appeared in many other television shows. In 2011, she was on Pointless Celebrities with her brother Colin. In 2018, she started playing Nurse Digby in the BBC Three series In My Skin. She also appeared in the popular science fiction show Doctor Who. She played Eve Cicero in the episode "The Tsuranga Conundrum" in 2018. In 2021, Suzanne starred in the ITV miniseries The Pembrokeshire Murders. She has also been in shows like Bang, Vera, and Death in Paradise.
Suzanne's Personal Life
Suzanne Packer met an American actor named Jesse Newman while she was on a tour in Europe. They later got married and had a son together. The couple later divorced.
