Svenstavik is a small town in Sweden. It is located in Jämtland County. Svenstavik is also the main town, or seat, of Berg Municipality. In 2010, about 1,004 people lived there.
Getting Around Svenstavik
A major road called European route E45 goes right through Svenstavik. This road connects many places across Europe. Another important road, County Road 321 (called länsväg 321 in Swedish), starts here. It goes all the way to Mattmar in Åre.
Trains also play a role in Svenstavik's history. The Inland Line (Inlandsbanan) railway reached the area in the 1910s. The train line to Brunflo opened in 1917. The line to Åsarna opened a year later, in 1918.
What is Svenstavik Famous For?
Svenstavik is best known for a special festival called Älghälga. This festival celebrates the start of moose hunting season. It is a popular event that brings people together.
