Early Life and Education
Swara Bhasker was born in Delhi, India, on April 9, 1988. Her father, C. Uday Bhaskar, was an officer in the Indian Navy. Her mother, Ira Bhaskar, is a professor who teaches about cinema at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
Swara grew up in Delhi and went to Sardar Patel Vidyalaya for her schooling. She then studied English literature at Delhi University's Miranda House. Later, she earned her master's degree in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
Acting Career Journey
Before becoming a film actress, Swara Bhasker was part of a theater group called "Act One" in Delhi. She moved to Mumbai in 2008 and made her first film appearance in Madholal Keep Walking in 2009. This movie was shown at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival.
She then had a supporting role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's drama Guzaarish (2010), starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. Swara also appeared in The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project, which was an independent film.
Rising to Fame
Swara became widely known after her supporting role in the successful romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu in 2011. She played Payal, the best friend of the main character, played by Kangana Ranaut. Swara Bhasker has often spoken up about important social issues. On February 16, 2023, she married Fahad Ahmad. Later that year, on September 23, they welcomed their daughter, Rabiya.
