Sylvia Mason-James was born in south London, United Kingdom. Her parents came from Jamaica. She began her music career in 1977 with a disco band called Voyage.
Singing with Stars
Sylvia has worked with many popular musicians. In 1992, she sang a duet with Jimmy Nail on his hit song "Ain't No Doubt". She also provided backing vocals for Joan Armatrading's album Square the Circle that same year.
Later, Sylvia was the main singer on Chicane's song "Strong in Love" in 1998. She also sang on Freemasons' "Nothing but a Heartache" in 2007. Sylvia has even released her own solo song, which was a cover of Diana Ross's "Touch Me in the Morning".
More Collaborations
In the early 2000s, Sylvia sang on several songs for the UK garage duo Scott and Leon. These included "You Used to Hold Me", "Shine On", and "Sounds of Eden". She also lent her voice to two songs on Superchumbo's Wowie Zowie album in 2005.
