Søren Hansen (born March 21, 1974) is a professional golfer from Denmark. He was born in Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark.
Søren Hansen started playing golf at a young age. He became a professional golfer in 1997. Before that, he won the Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 1997. This was a big win for him as an amateur player.
After turning professional, Søren Hansen quickly found success. He won his first professional tournament in 1998. This was the Navision Open Golf Championship, which was part of the Challenge Tour.
In 1999, he joined the European Tour, which is one of the biggest golf tours in the world. He won two important tournaments on this tour. In 2002, he won the Murphy's Irish Open after a thrilling play-off against three other golfers. A play-off is like extra holes played to decide a winner when players are tied. He also won the Mercedes-Benz Championship in 2007 by four strokes.
Søren Hansen was a very strong player in 2007. He finished 8th in the European Tour's Order of Merit, which ranks the best players. In September 2007, he reached the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings. This made him the highest-ranked Danish golfer at that time.
He also had the honor of representing Europe in the Ryder Cup in 2008. The Ryder Cup is a famous team competition between Europe and the United States. He also played for Denmark in the World Cup several times.
