Thomas Michael "T. M." Stevens (born July 28, 1951 – died March 10, 2024) was an American bass guitarist from New York City. He was known for playing bass guitar with many rock, R&B, and pop artists. He also performed his own music as a solo artist.

Music Career
Starting Out and Solo Music
T. M. Stevens, who sometimes went by the name Shaka Zulu, began his music journey playing bass in a group called Space Cadets. They released their first album in 1981.
From 1986 to 1987, he was a member of the Pretenders, a famous band. He helped record their album Get Close in 1986.
In 1993, Stevens joined a group called Vai, formed by guitarist Steve Vai. They recorded the album ... & Religion.
Starting in 1995, Stevens began making his own music with his band, Out of Control. They released albums like Boom (1995) and Sticky Wicked (1996). In 1997, he helped create a tribute album for the band Deep Purple. In 2000, he worked with German drummer Marco Minnemann's group, Illegal Aliens, on an album called International Telephone.
Playing with Other Artists
T. M. Stevens played and toured with many famous musicians. He was a "session musician," which means he was hired to play on recordings or tours for other artists.
Some of the well-known artists he worked with include James Brown, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, and Billy Joel.
Later Life
Later in his life, T. M. Stevens faced health challenges. He passed away on March 10, 2024.
