Stevie Salas (born November 17, 1964) is an American guitarist, author, television host, music director, and record producer. He has also composed music for films. Salas was born in Oceanside, California, United States. He is of Mescalero Apache descent.

Stevie Salas's Music Career
Stevie Salas has had a long and exciting career in music. He has worked on many different projects and with famous artists.
Early Music and Film Work
In 1989, Salas played the guitar solo for the character Rufus in the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. This was a fun start to his career!
In 1990, Salas released his first solo album, Stevie Salas Colorcode. He even opened for Joe Satriani on tour. His music became popular in Japan and Europe. In 1993, he released Stevie Salas Presents: The Electric Pow Wow. This album featured cover songs that inspired him when he was young. It included guest artists like Zakk Wylde and Glenn Hughes.
In 1994, Salas released Back from the Living in Japan. His songs "Start Again" and "Tell Your Story Walkin'" were singles from this album.
Working with Music Legends
Stevie Salas has worked with some very famous musicians. He was the touring guitarist for Rod Stewart's "Out of Order Tour." This tour inspired him to write his book, "When We Were the Boys," which shares memories from touring around the world.
In 2001, Mick Jagger (from The Rolling Stones) hired Salas as his guitarist and music director for Jagger's "Goddess in the Doorway" Tour. Later that year, Salas released his album Shapeshifter: The Fall and Rise of Stevie No Wonder.
In 2003, he released The Soulblasters of the Universe. He also went on his first European tour with Colorcode since 1999.
Music Director and Advisor Roles
From 2006 to 2010, Salas worked as a music director and consultant for American Idol. He helped artists like Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, and Chris Daughtry with their touring bands.
Salas also became a host and executive producer for the Canadian music TV series Arbor Live on APTN. In 2009, he helped start a company called Rockstar Solos, LLC. This company creates gaming and entertainment apps for iPhones and iPads.
In 2009, Salas worked with T.I and Justin Timberlake on their song "Dead and Gone." This song reached number 2 on the US Billboard Charts. That same year, Salas received a Native American Lifetime Achievement Award at the Native American Music Awards.
From 2010 to 2012, he was an advisor for contemporary music at the National Museum of the American Indian. He helped create the "Up Where We Belong - Natives In Popular Culture" exhibit and The Living Earth Festival. In 2012, Salas created and produced "Catch The Dream Bios" with Adam Beach for APTN.
Film Production and Recent Projects
Salas is an Executive Producer for 'RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World'. This is a Native American music documentary for PBS and Super Channel. It won an award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. He is also producing "Dreamcatcher Bios."
He co-wrote and produced music for the band INABA/SALAS with Japanese superstar Koshi Inaba. Their album Chubby Groove was released in 2017 and was a top album in Japan. It was certified Gold in Japan. In 2020, Inaba/Salas released their second album, Maximum Huavo.
