Tabbita is a small community located in the central part of a region in Australia called the Riverina. It is found in the state of New South Wales. You can reach Tabbita by road, along a route known as the Kidman Way. It is about 10 kilometers northwest of Warburn and 19 kilometers southeast of Goolgowi. The land around Tabbita is mostly used for farming.

Local Businesses and Farms

Prime City Cattle Feedlot

Prime City is a large feedlot near Tabbita. A feedlot is a place where cattle are kept and fed grain. This helps them grow quickly for meat production. The feedlot was first built in the mid-1990s.

Today, a company called JBS owns Prime City. They use the feedlot to produce special grain-fed beef. This beef is then sent to a meat processing plant in Toowoomba. The feedlot closed for a short time in 2012, which affected 63 workers. However, JBS reopened it in late 2014. This was part of a plan to expand their feedlot operations in the area.

GrainCorp Operations

GrainCorp used to have a site in Tabbita where farmers could deliver their grain. This type of site is called a grain receival site. It was a place where harvested crops like wheat were collected.

The Tabbita GrainCorp site closed down in 2014. This closure was part of a larger plan. More than 60 other GrainCorp sites in western New South Wales also closed around the same time.

Local Infrastructure

Tabbita Post Office

The Tabbita Post Office first opened its doors on 1 October 1927. It served the local community for many years. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1974.

Tabbita Train Station

The Tabbita train station was an important part of the local transport system. It was located along the Temora–Roto railway line. The station started operating on 18 June 1923. It provided a way for people and goods to travel. The train station closed on 4 May 1975.

Modern Telecommunications

In 2018, a new mobile phone tower was built in Tabbita. This tower provides modern 3G and 4G wireless services. It allows people in the area to use their mobile phones and access the internet.

The tower was built by Vodafone. It was part of a special government program. This program, called the Mobile Black Spot Program, aims to bring phone service to areas that did not have it. Since then, other phone companies like Optus and Telstra have also added their services to the area. This has improved mobile reception for everyone.
