The Taifa of Jaén (Arabic: طائفة جيان) was a small Islamic kingdom in Al-Andalus, which is what Spain was called when it was ruled by Moors in the Middle Ages. A "taifa" was a small, independent Muslim state. The Taifa of Jaén was located around the city of Jaén in southern Spain.
This kingdom existed for only two short times. It was first formed in 1145 and then again in 1168. It was ruled by Arabs from the Banu Khazraj tribe.

Who Ruled the Taifa of Jaén?
The Taifa of Jaén had different rulers, called emirs, from various families or "dynasties." An emir was like a prince or governor.
The Yuzaid Dynasty
- Ibn Yuzai: He was the first known emir. He ruled in 1145.

- After 1145, the Taifa of Jaén came under the control of the Almohads. The Almohads were a powerful Muslim group that ruled a large empire in North Africa and Spain. This lasted until 1159.
- From 1159 to 1168, the Taifa of Jaén was controlled by the Taifa of Murcia, another independent Muslim kingdom.
The Hamuskid Dynasty
