Takashi Inui (乾 貴士, Inui Takashi, born 2 June 1988) is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He currently plays for the Shimizu S-Pulse club in Japan.

Takashi Inui's Football Journey
Takashi Inui started his football career early. In 2006, he won a big championship with Yasu High School. This was the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament.
Starting in Japan
In 2007, Inui joined Yokohama F. Marinos. This is a team in Japan's top league, the J. League Division 1. He played his first professional game on March 10. But he didn't play much for Marinos.
So, in June 2008, he moved to Cerezo Osaka. This team was in the second division, J. League Division 2. He played well there and joined them permanently later that year.
Moving to Europe
In July 2011, Takashi Inui moved to Europe. He joined VfL Bochum in Germany. He played his first game for them on August 13, 2011. This was in the 2. Bundesliga, which is Germany's second division.
After playing very well, Inui signed a three-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2012. This team had just been promoted to the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league.
Playing for Eibar
On August 26, 2015, Inui moved to Spain. He joined SD Eibar, a team in La Liga, Spain's top league. He was the first Asian player to play for Eibar. Inui said it was his dream to play in the Spanish league.
He played his first game for Eibar on September 23, 2015. He even helped set up a goal in that game. On January 10, 2016, he scored his first goal for Eibar. He also helped set up another goal in that match.
In May 2017, Inui made history. He became the first Japanese footballer to score against FC Barcelona. He scored two goals in that game!
Time at Real Betis and Alavés
After his contract with Eibar ended, Inui joined Real Betis on June 1, 2018. He signed a three-year deal with them. He made his debut for Betis on August 17, 2018.
He didn't play much for Betis. So, in January 2019, he moved to Deportivo Alavés on loan. He played his first game for Alavés on January 11, 2019. He scored his first goal for them on March 2, 2019.
Back to Eibar
On July 24, 2019, Takashi Inui went back to SD Eibar. He signed a new three-year deal with his old club.
Joining Shimizu S-Pulse
On July 22, 2022, Inui joined Shimizu S-Pulse in Japan. He helped his team get promoted to the J1 League for the next season. This happened after they won an away game on October 27, 2024. A week later, Inui also helped his club win the J2 League championship for 2024!
Takashi Inui for Japan
Takashi Inui has also played for the Japan national football team. He played his first international game on January 20, 2009. This was a qualification match for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
In May 2018, he was chosen for Japan's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. On June 24, he scored his first World Cup goal. This was in a game against Senegal. Inui scored another goal and helped with an assist during the tournament.
