Takashi Inui (乾 貴士, Inui Takashi, born 2 June 1988) is a professional Japanese footballer. He plays as a winger or an attacking midfielder. Currently, he plays for the Shimizu S-Pulse club in Japan.

Playing for Clubs
Takashi Inui started his football journey early. In 2006, he became a champion with Yasu High School in the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament.
Starting in Japan
In 2007, Inui joined Yokohama F. Marinos, a team in Japan's top league, the J. League Division 1. He played his first professional game on March 10. However, he did not play regularly with the team.
In June 2008, he was loaned to Cerezo Osaka, a team in the second division. A loan means he played for them temporarily. He did so well that he joined Cerezo Osaka permanently at the end of that season. He played many games and scored several goals for them until 2011.
Moving to Europe
In July 2011, Inui moved to Europe to play for VfL Bochum in Germany. He made his first appearance in the 2. Bundesliga (Germany's second division) on August 13, 2011.
After playing well in the 2. Bundesliga, Inui signed a three-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2012. This team had just been promoted to the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league.
Playing in Spain
On August 26, 2015, Inui moved to Spain. He joined La Liga team SD Eibar. This was a big move for him, costing Eibar €300,000. He was the first Asian player to play for the club. Inui shared that playing in the Spanish league had been his dream since he was a child.
He played his first game for Eibar on September 23, 2015. He even helped set up a goal in a 2–2 draw against Levante. On January 10, 2016, he scored his first goal for Eibar in a 2–1 win against RCD Espanyol. He scored the first goal and also assisted the second.
In April 2017, Inui was asked to return to Japan. He served as a special delegate for the visit of King Felipe VI of Spain to Japan. On May 21, 2017, Inui made history. He became the first Japanese footballer to score two goals against FC Barcelona.
Joining Real Betis
After his contract with Eibar ended, Inui joined Real Betis on June 1, 2018. He signed a three-year deal with them. He played his first game for Betis on August 17, 2018. He came on as a substitute in a match against Levante.
Loan to Alavés
In January 2019, Inui moved to Deportivo Alavés on a loan. This means he played for them temporarily until the end of the season. He made his debut for Alavés on January 11, 2019. He scored his first goal for Alavés on March 2, 2019, in a 2–1 win against Villarreal.
Returning to Eibar
On July 24, 2019, Inui returned to SD Eibar. He signed a new three-year deal with his former club.
Playing for Shimizu S-Pulse
On July 22, 2022, Inui joined Shimizu S-Pulse. This was after his contract with Cerezo Osaka ended. On October 27, 2024, Inui helped his club get promoted to the J1 League for the next season. They won an away game against Tochigi SC 2-1. Seven days later, Inui helped his club become champions of the J2 League in the 2024 season. They beat Iwaki FC 1-0.
Playing for Japan
Inui made his first appearance for the Japanese national team on January 20, 2009. This was during a qualifying match for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
In May 2018, he was chosen for Japan's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. On June 24, Inui scored his first World Cup goal. It was in a 2–2 draw against Senegal. He scored another goal and made an assist during the tournament.
