Talking Tom & Friends is a fun computer-animated show for kids. It's a web series and sitcom made by Outfit7. The show is based on the popular Talking Tom & Friends games and apps.

The first episode came out on December 23, 2014, on YouTube. The last episode was released on December 24, 2021. The first three seasons were made by ARX Anima, an animation studio in Austria. For seasons 4 and 5, People Moving Pixels, a Spanish studio, took over production.

Characters

Main Characters

  • Tom (voiced by Colin Hanks) – Tom is a grey tabby cat. He's the leader of the group and full of ideas for new apps and inventions. Tom loves to have fun and can sometimes get into trouble.
  • Ben (voiced by James Adomian) – Ben is a brown dog and Tom's best friend. He's super smart and loves to invent things. Ben focuses on the technical side of apps, like computer programming. He's the brains of the group but can get stressed easily.
  • Angela (voiced by Lisa Schwartz) – Angela is a white cat and Tom's girlfriend. She dreams of becoming a famous singer. She tries out other things too, like making scarves or smoothies. Angela is fun, girly, and sometimes a bit shy.
  • Ginger (voiced by Maria Bamford) – Ginger is a young orange-and-white cat. He's Tom's neighbor. Ginger is still learning about feelings and can sometimes find grown-up affection a bit gross because he's still young.
  • Hank (voiced by Tom Kenny) – Hank is a white dog with a blue spot around his eye. He's Tom's roommate. Hank loves watching TV shows and often says he's "in a relationship with the TV" because he loves it so much. He's a sweet and funny character.
  • Becca Sparkles (voiced by Maria Bamford) – Becca is a grey rabbit. At first, she didn't get along with Angela due to a misunderstanding. Later, she became friends with the group. Becca and Hank used to date, but they decided to be just friends.

Recurring Characters

  • Santa Claus (voiced by Tom Kenny) – Santa Claus appears in special Christmas episodes. In the show, he's a real person!
  • Dr. Internet Doctor (voiced by Brian Stack) – This doctor sees patients through webcams. His medical advice isn't always the best.
  • The CEO (voiced by Brian Stack) – A very rich businessman. Tom and his friends often meet him. He tries to find ways to get Tom and Ben's inventions or shut down their company. In later episodes, he leaves his pet goldfish, Goldie, in charge.
  • Jeremy the Germ (voiced by Josh Fadem in seasons 1–3 and Tom Kenny in seasons 4–present) – Jeremy is a germ who used to cause trouble but later changed his ways. He became clean and joined the gang. He even got a job at the diner!
  • The Landlord (voiced by Dave Willis) – He owns the garage that Tom and Hank rent. He doesn't like loud noises and often warns his tenants if they don't pay rent. He used to be a ping pong champion.
  • MC (voiced by James Adomian) – He organizes and hosts events. His real name is Maurice Claremont.
  • Rhonda (voiced by Lisa Schwartz) – She's the friendly waitress and owner of the diner where Tom and his friends often hang out.
  • Victoria Payne (voiced by Suzi Barrett) – A tough music critic. She hosts a show where she judges new singers.
  • Darren (voiced by George Back) – A rich kid who is the CEO's nephew. He can be a bit snobby, especially around Ginger.
  • Will Zee (voiced by Brandon Johnson) – Tom's childhood friend. He became a popular professional skateboarder, which made Tom a little jealous at first.
  • Boomerang (voiced by Tom Kenny) – An artificial intelligence (AI) program that Ben created from a gaming device. Boomerang sees Ben as his dad and grows up very quickly.
  • Xenon (voiced by Robin Reed) – Ben's girlfriend. She works for a secret organization called "the Agency." Even though she works for them, she actually wants to help Tom and his friends.
  • Mel (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Flo (voiced by Maria Bamford) – They are members of the "S.M.A.R.T.I.E.S." club, which is for super smart people.
  • Ms. Vanthrax (voiced by Laraine Newman) – Ginger's school teacher. She used to teach Tom and Ben too. She loves coming up with new ways to punish students.
  • Ricky DeLuna (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui) – A famous actor and dancer. He tried to cause trouble for Angela and Tom during a music video.
  • Ronnie (voiced by James Adomian) – Ginger's classmate and scout-mate. He's really good at the SquareStack video game.
  • Autumn Summers (voiced by Greg Manwaring in season 1 and Maria Bamford in season 3-present) – A fashion company executive. She hosts many fashion shows.
  • Bongo (voiced by Tom Kenny) and McGillicuddy (voiced by James Adomian) – They are the main characters from Hank's favorite TV show, "Bongo and McGillicuddy." Bongo is a human police officer and McGillicuddy is his orangutan assistant.
  • Roy Rakoon (voiced by Tom Kenny) – Tom's new neighbor. He seems nice and rich at first, but he turns out to be a tricky character and a rival to Tom. He is the main troublemaker in the fifth season.

Production

On October 7, 2013, Outfit7 announced they were making a TV show based on Talking Tom & Friends. It was planned to have 52 episodes, each 11 minutes long. The show was first called Tom on the Road. It was going to star Tom, Ben, Angela, and Ginger.

The pilot episode came out on December 23, 2014. It was a CGI animated series made by ARX Anima. This episode also introduced a new character, Hank.

On February 23, 2015, Outfit7 shared that the full series would start on April 30. New episodes would come out every week. The show won "Best Animated Series" at the 2016 Cablefax Awards. Because of this success, a second season was approved on August 29, 2016.

Broadcast and Release

The Talking Tom & Friends series was mainly released on YouTube. It also aired on Boomerang UK starting in September 2016. The show was also available on Netflix for a while, but it is no longer there.
