How Tall Pines Became a Preserve

From Forest to Golf Course

The land that is now Tall Pines State Preserve used to be a thick forest. This was true until the early 1950s. Then, the land was changed and became a golf course. People played golf there for many years.

Saving the Land

In 2006, the golf course property was sold to a company that wanted to build houses there. But many people wanted to save the land as a natural space. So, they worked hard to raise money to buy the property. Their goal was to turn it into a nature preserve for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to their efforts, the land was bought and opened as Tall Pines State Preserve in 2015.
