Tamer Hosny Sherif Abbas Farghaly (Arabic: تامر حسني شريف عباس فرغلي; born August 16, 1977), known as Tamer Hosny (Arabic: تامر حسني), is a famous Egyptian singer, actor, composer, director, and songwriter. He first became known when he appeared on music collections with other Egyptian artists. Tamer Hosny started his solo music career in 2004 with his album Hob. He became a very popular singer of romantic songs. His fans even gave him the nickname "King of the Generation."

Tamer Hosny's Life and Career

Tamer Hosny was born in Cairo, Egypt. His father was Egyptian, and his mother was Syrian. When he was young, Tamer Hosny loved football. He played the sport for five years.

His first acting role was in 1990. It was a short film called Khat El Nehaya (The End Line). He was only 12 years old at the time.

Becoming a Director and Actor

Tamer Hosny always wanted to be a director. In 2010, he directed his first music video. The song was called "Se7eet 3la Sotha" (Woke up to her voice).

He also starred in the Egyptian film Halet Hob (A State of Love) in 2003. In 2006, he faced a legal issue regarding his military service. He spent some time in jail because of this.

In 2010, Tamer Hosny released a comedy-drama film called The Light of My Eyes. This movie was very popular. It quickly became the number one film in the Arabian box office.

In 2012, he released Omar & Salma 3. This was the third movie in the Omar & Salma series. Tamer Hosny has said he wasn't completely happy with how this movie turned out. Even though many people loved it and it made a lot of money, he felt responsible for some changes that had to be made.

After three years, he returned to movies with Ahwak in 2015. This was a romantic comedy about a young plastic surgeon. The film was a big success, earning 22 million Egyptian pounds.

In 2017, he released Tesbah ala Kher (Good Night). This was a comedy drama about a rich businessman. The movie was a huge hit and topped the Arabic box office.

Tamer Hosny continued making successful films. In 2018, he released the comedy El-Badlah. In 2019, he starred in the thriller comedy El Feloos (The Money). This movie earned over 46 million Egyptian pounds in Egypt. It also made almost 2 million US dollars worldwide.

In December 2019, Tamer Hosny broke a Guinness World Record. He received the most contributions to a bulletin board. This showed how much his fans support him.

His latest comedy-drama film, Mesh Ana, was released in 2021. Tamer Hosny wrote the story for this movie himself.

Tamer Hosny has helped many new artists. Over two years, he found more than 20 new lyric writers and composers. He also helped more than five new singers and ten new actors. He even helped Mohammad Samy become a director for TV and movies.

In 2011, Tamer Hosny sang in a charity song called Bokra ("Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)"). Many famous Arab artists joined him in this song. The money from the song went to charities that support arts and culture.

He also recorded a duet song with the artist Shaggy. The song was called "Smile." Tamer Hosny wrote and composed this song. The music video for "Smile" was released in 2012. It was filmed in New York City and got over a million views in just three days.

Another cool collaboration was with Snoop Dogg. The song was called "Si Al Sayed." Snoop Dogg even wore traditional Egyptian clothes in the music video!

Tamer Hosny married Moroccan singer Bassma Boussel in 2012. She was a contestant on Star Academy. They have two daughters and one son. In April 2023, they announced their divorce.

Tamer Hosny is also known for advertising big brands. He has been an endorser for the soft drink Pepsi. He was also the first Arab celebrity to advertise Police brand sunglasses.

On August 9, 2017, Tamer Hosny made a special footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. He was the first Egyptian and Arab artist to have this honor.
