Tammin Sursok was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her parents, Daryl and Julie Sursok, were musicians. When she was six years old, her family moved to Australia.
From a young age, Tammin loved acting, music, and dance. She joined the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre to follow these interests. She also studied at the Trinity Speech and Drama College. Tammin went to Ravenswood School for Girls in Sydney, where she focused on speech and drama during her last years of school.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting with Home and Away (2000–2004)
In 1999, after finishing Year 10, Tammin found an agent. Her first audition was for the popular Australian TV show Home and Away. She got the part of Dani Sutherland, the oldest daughter in the Sutherland family. Dani was a bit rebellious and helped run the Caravan Park.
Tammin felt very lucky to get the role, calling it an "incredible" experience. She won a Logie Award for Most Popular New Female Talent for her work on the show. Later, she was also nominated for the Logie Award for Most Popular Actress.
Music Journey with Whatever Will Be (2004–2006)
Tammin left Home and Away in 2004 to start a music career and look for acting jobs in the United States. She signed with Sony BMG Music Entertainment and began recording her first album.
Her solo album, Whatever Will Be, came out on May 22, 2005. It reached number thirteen on the Australian music charts. The first song from the album, "Pointless Relationship", was very popular. It reached number 5 on the Australian singles chart and was certified Platinum. This means it sold a lot of copies!
The second song, "Whatever Will Be", reached number 13. The third and final song, "It's a Beautiful Thing", reached number 30.

In 2007, Tammin joined the American TV show The Young and the Restless as Colleen Carlton. She worked hard to learn about her character's past. Tammin was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her role. After two years, she left the show to work on other projects.
In 2009, Tammin starred in the Nickelodeon musical movie Spectacular!. She played Courtney, the lead singer of a high school choir. Tammin sang several songs for the movie's soundtrack, which also did well on the music charts.
