Tanamá: A Special Community
Since 2001, Puerto Rico has had a special law. This law helps identify communities that need extra support. These communities often face challenges like poverty. They might also lack important resources or opportunities.
What is a Special Community?
These special places are called Comunidades especiales de Puerto Rico. They can be barrios, neighborhoods, or other areas. The goal is to help these communities get the resources they need. This includes things like better schools or job opportunities.

In 2001, 686 places were first put on this list. By 2008, the list grew to 742 places. Tanamá was one of seven areas in Adjuntas that became a "Special Community." This means it was recognized as needing extra help and attention.
