Tangent is a small city located in Linn County, Oregon, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,231 people lived there. It's known for its nickname, "Grass Seed Capital of the World," because of the many grass farms nearby.
Tangent got its name from a straight part of the Southern Pacific railway line. This section of track had no curves for over 20 miles (32 kilometers). A post office was first set up in Tangent on September 17, 1872. The city was officially formed in 1893.
